Making your own prawn cocktail is totally easy and it is totally retro and totally DELICIOUS. Like totes awesome to the max. I could eat it every day.
First off make the seafood sauce
Add about half a cup of tomato sauce, half a cup of cream, a dash of hot chilli or Tabasco sauce, a tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce and the same of lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste and mix it all up in a bowl. This makes enough for about three entree serves. To make more just double, triple, quadruple the recipe as required. Then pop it in the fridge until you’re ready to eat.
Put it all together
Next, peel your cooked prawns and cooked lobster if you’re fancy. Chop your iceberg lettuce into fine strips. Half some cherry tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Chop up bite-sized chunks of avocado. Then pop the iceberg lettuce into the bottom of a bowl or funky glass, then pile on the tomatoes, avocado, prawns and drizzle with loads of seafood sauce.
THIS IS THE BEST PRAWN COCKTAIL EVER. Perfect for Christmas Day lunch or any day really.
Are you into retro food dishes?

Been making that recipe since the 1960s when Mum first worked it out…or found it. We tended to use mayonnaise if cream not around. LOVE me a good old-fashioned prawn cocktail. In cool glasses with little forks and small triangles of buttered brown bread. That’s how Mum served it. Memories! This does make an excellent meal unto itself and I add mango sometimes too….Merry Christmas B to you and yours. Denyse x
Prawn cocktails are back in! I ate one at a fancy restaurant a few weeks back (and blogged about it – Prix Fixe if you are interested). This is such a healthy snack. I am going to eat these more regularly I think
I made prawn cocktails this past Christmas as our entree, worked a treat!
