I’ve been having a variation of the same dream over and over for at the last two months. Each time, it involves me busting to do a wee. I spend ages trying to find a toilet or I just wee behind a tree or in a dark corner. Last night, I squatted in my own bedroom and weed all over the floor. I could feel it splashing up on my legs. I awoke with a start, as I do each time I have this dream. I immediately checked my sheets thinking “this time I’ve wet the bed, I just know it.” I hadn’t and I haven’t…yet, but am terrified that I will. Last night, in my groggy state I thought to myself – “that’s it, I am going to have to start wearing adult nappies to bed, just in case”.
So today, I went and got some Dry Nights.
No, I didn’t.
I Googled “dreams about urination” instead. I went the trusty dream interpretation route. And this is what I found.
To see urine in your dream represents the feelings you have rejected. Alternatively, the dream may be a pun on your “pissy” attitude.
To dream that you are urinating symbolizes a cleansing and a release of negative or repressed emotions. Depending on your dream context, urination is symbolic of having or lacking basic control of your life. You are literally “pissed off” and not expressing yourself in a positive or constructive manner.
To dream that you are urinating in public symbolizes a lack of privacy in some personal matter. Alternatively, the dream means that you are trying to establish your boundary and “mark your territory.”
OMG I am a dog.
Seriously, “mark my territory”. Watch out Twiggy Imma gonna wee in the bed. You wait until I start weeing in the car and on the couch. In fact, I think I might just be weeing right now.
OK, I’m not going to do any of those things, but I am going to take a stab at this whole dream interpretation malarky and instead say – I think my dream meant I needed to go to the toilet and my body was letting me know. Except, if I take the realist path, I’m not sure how to explain my other recurring dream that I’m swimming in a pool full of white pointer sharks. Damn you Jaws 1, 11 and 3-D.

I have a few recurring dreams. Two I’ve been having for decades, one of which is a common dream – about my teeth falling out. Usually they crumble and disintegrate. The other is about my contact lenses. I’m heading somewhere I need them (playing netball or basketball – neither of which I’ve played for years) and I go to put them in and they’re HUGE. My dream always ends as I’m manoeuvring this massive thing towards my eye wondering how something almost as large as my head will fit in my eye. I’ve googled it and there are no contact lens dreams to be found! Perhaps it’s as basic as needing to ‘see clearly’ or something equally inane.
More recently I’m having dreams about public transport – catching buses and trains and ‘just’ missing them or being in the wrong place. (I suspect I don’t need to google that one which is almost literally my concern about ‘missing the boat’!)
PS. I like the notion of the urinating dream being about a ‘cleanse’….
